Resolution

See the Difference More Pixels Make

Higher resolution records more pixels in each frame, which gives you more detail to work with when reviewing faces, vehicles, packages, and activity.

This product 2K
720p 1280 x 720 0.9 million pixels
1080p 1920 x 1080 2.1 million pixels
2K / 1440p 2560 x 1440 3.7 million pixels This product
4K 3840 x 2160 8.3 million pixels

Resolution labels describe output dimensions. Aspect ratio, lens quality, sensor quality, lighting, compression, and recorder settings also affect usable image detail.

Night Vision

What You Can Expect After Dark

Night-vision technologies solve different problems. Compare the same scene below; this product's supported modes are highlighted.

IR Night Vision view of a backyard at night On this product

IR Night Vision

Black-and-white visibility without visible light, ideal for discreet overnight monitoring.

Dual Light view of a backyard at night

Dual Light

Uses IR normally, then activates a spotlight for full-color detail when it matters.

Color Night Vision view of a backyard at night

Color Night Vision

Retains useful color from ambient light without requiring a visible spotlight.

Ultra Color Night Vision view of a backyard at night

Ultra Color Night Vision

Advanced low-light processing preserves the clearest color and background detail in very dark scenes.

The examples explain relative viewing modes. Actual brightness, color, and range depend on the camera, placement, and available ambient light.

Description

The Alarm.com ADC-VC838PF is a 4MP Pro Series turret camera for indoor and outdoor locations where the final view needs more precision than a fixed lens can provide. Its low-profile turret design works well beneath eaves, on ceilings and along walls, while HDR and WDR imaging improve usable detail around bright entrances, shaded walkways, vehicle approaches and other mixed-light scenes.

A motorized 3.2-9.8 mm P-iris lens moves from a broad 116-degree view to a focused 34-degree view. Focal length, manual focus and autofocus controls can be adjusted remotely, helping Allied fine-tune a video security and surveillance system around a doorway, checkout area, driveway or loading approach without physically reopening or repositioning the camera.

Integrated infrared provides visibility in complete darkness at distances up to approximately 95 feet. Video Analytics can identify meaningful object-based activity, while Business Activity Analytics can support occupancy, people counting, queue monitoring, crowd gathering and heat mapping on compatible commercial plans. This model does not support two-way audio, making it best for locations where image quality, adjustable framing and analytics are the priorities.

Recording options include cloud clips, encrypted 24/7 onboard microSD footage with Smart View, and a compatible Stream Video Recorder. Supported microSD capacity reaches 1.5 TB with qualifying firmware, while the Alarm.com app and website provide access to live and recorded video. A 10/100 Ethernet port supports 802.3af PoE, regulated 12 VDC is available as an alternative, and the IP66 enclosure resists dust and water in exposed installations.
