The Alarm.com ADC-VC8498P is a Prism Series fixed dome camera for locations that benefit from a wide, consistent view: entrances, courtyards, storefronts, covered parking, common areas and exposed walkways. Its 8MP Ultra HD resolution and 1/1.8-inch Sony STARVIS 2 sensor provide the image density and low-light performance needed for clearer review without adding lens adjustment to the installation.
The 4.2 mm fixed lens covers 110.74 degrees horizontally, making it a practical choice when the scene is already well defined and dependable framing matters more than optical reach. Around a larger residence, that broad 4K view can strengthen a professionally designed home security system at a driveway, courtyard or detached building while the vandal-resistant dome keeps a lower profile than a directional bullet camera.
VividNight technology retains useful color as ambient light fades, HDR helps balance strong contrast, and built-in IR maintains visibility in total darkness up to approximately 131 feet. Video Analytics 2.0 can focus alerts on selected object types; compatible service options also support Business Activity Analytics, Perimeter Guard audio, Remote Video Monitoring and AI Deterrence. The built-in microphone captures audio, while full two-way communication requires the optional ADC-VACC-AO-015 cable, an external speaker and the appropriate service setup.
Recording can be matched to the property with cloud event clips, encrypted 24/7 onboard microSD footage or a compatible Stream Video Recorder. Supported microSD capacity reaches 1.5 TB with qualifying firmware, and Smart View makes the local timeline accessible through the Alarm.com interface. A single 802.3af PoE connection supplies power and network access, while IP66, IK10 and NEMA 4X ratings add weather and impact protection for indoor or outdoor placement.
