The Honeywell Home 5800PIR-OD2 brings supervised motion detection to exterior areas where trenching cable would be disruptive or expensive. Two passive infrared sensors must agree before the unit declares an alarm, helping it reject small animals and common outdoor disturbances while watching drive approaches, fenced yards, equipment areas, utility sites, and building perimeters.

Its range can be adjusted from approximately 8 to 40 feet, and the fixed 90-degree pattern can swivel in 15-degree steps across a 180-degree mounting field. The detector also includes bright-light immunity, selectable 5- or 120-second transmission lockout, anti-masking, and alarm, tamper, trouble, and low-battery reporting. The IP54 enclosure operates from -40 to 140 F and mounts to a wall or pole with two AA lithium batteries.

For properties that also use Allied video security and surveillance cameras, a properly positioned outdoor motion zone can add another verified event source around high-value approaches.
