Description
The Honeywell Home 5800COV uses an electrochemical sensor to detect carbon monoxide from combustion sources and report the alarm to a compatible 5800-series control panel. A built-in 85 dBA horn sounds the ANSI temporal-4 CO pattern, while red and blue LEDs distinguish the local alarm condition. The test/hush button supports routine checks, functional gas testing, and a five-minute hush when CO remains below the manufacturer’s stated limit.
Beyond alarm reporting, the detector sends tamper, low-battery, trouble, and end-of-life messages to the system. Its CO sensor has an approximate ten-year life from the date of manufacture, after which the complete detector must be replaced. One included CR123A lithium battery powers the unit, and the detector checks battery condition at least every 65 minutes.
