DSC BV-500GB Bravo 5GB Ceiling Motion and Glass Break Detector

The DSC BV-500GB Bravo 5GB combines two different layers of room protection in one ceiling-mounted housing. A quad-element PIR and 360-degree Fresnel lens watch for movement, while a microprocessor-based acoustic channel listens for the signature of framed glass breaking.

Motion coverage expands with ceiling height: approximately 24 ft in diameter at 8 ft, 30 ft at 10 ft, and 40 ft at 12 ft. The glass channel can cover up to 25 ft depending on glass type, size, room acoustics, and the selected sensitivity level. It supports plate, tempered, laminated, and wired glass, with digital processing intended to reject common bell, ringing, and white-noise sounds. The BV-500GB provides a Form A motion output and a separate Form C glass-break output.

This dual-purpose format can reduce device count in a room, but it does not remove the need to test each technology independently. Check the PIR pattern, protected-glass distance, window coverings, ambient noise, and both alarm circuits before the detector is accepted into service.
