Honeywell Home 5898 Wireless DUAL TEC Motion Sensor

The Honeywell Home 5898 uses two different sensing technologies to evaluate activity inside the protected area. Passive infrared detection watches for heat moving through the pattern, while X-band microwave sensing checks the same event; the DUAL TEC processor requires the technologies to confirm one another before reporting a motion alarm, helping reduce nuisance trips caused by isolated environmental conditions.

The installed wide-angle lens reaches 50 feet, and the included animal-immune lens provides a 35-foot pattern with selectable settings for pets up to 50 or 100 pounds. Low- or high-temperature reporting can be programmed at 45 F or 95 F, and flashlight-enabled walk testing makes it easier to select sensitivity and verify the PIR and microwave range. Four AA lithium batteries provide approximately 4.7 years of typical service, and internal supervision checks the microwave, PIR, and temperature-compensation functions.
