The Honeywell Home 5800PIR builds on the residential model with controls that make it easier to tune a room after installation. Its 35 x 40 ft passive infrared pattern can be configured for no pet immunity or for pets up to 80 pounds, allowing the same detector to serve different layouts without compromising the intended detection response.

A bright flashlight can restart walk-test mode from the floor, which reduces repeated ladder trips during commissioning and later service. The sensor can also report temperatures below 45 F, supports remotely programmed sensitivity on compatible systems, performs an internal self-test, and accepts an optional look-down lens for the area directly below the housing. Temperature reporting is an added property-protection signal, not a substitute for a dedicated life-safety device.

The replaceable CR123A battery is designed for up to five years of typical service, while tamper, low-battery, and periodic supervision keep the panel informed about sensor health. Allied programs the correct pet and sensitivity mode, confirms the low-temperature loop when used, and walk-tests the complete coverage area.
